My designs are developed at a stately pace, honed over the years. As such I don’t work seasonally but prefer to offer a small number of models directly and on a permanent basis.
The Core Collection comprises five handbag designs. It was initially presented twelve years ago and has been the backbone of the label since. These are my most complex designs and the most involved, intricate commissions I undertake.
All work coming from the studio continues to be crafted by myself.
Bespoke, Open and Limited Editions
Alongside the formal designs of the Core handbags, I occasionally present more casual, individual designs. These are released either as Limited Editions, in small Open Edition runs or on a one-off Bespoke basis.
Ten years ago I released the Carta wallets. Over the course of a week I craft one example of each of the five models and make them available upon completion.
Work in progress
A drawer is set up in the studio where these components are collected together - a home for the bag as it is brought to life. For each Core Collection commission a page is also set up in the Client Portal - a private area of the website where clients can view their order while it is being created.
Every component is cut, bevelled, burnished and edged by hand. These tasks call for a precise set of tools, many of which are unavailable so have been made especially for the purpose.
Completion
When the item has been completed, the gold polished and the leather waxed, it is ready to be handed over. The client's name is etched onto the permanent record - simple brass plates kept in the studio.
The presentation boxes are either couriered to the client directly or handed over in person. This presentation represents the end of a long process in the studio but - for the client - it is the start of a long life with their new handbag.
